Lesson: Creating a Template

In this lesson, we’re going to walk through how to set up a template.

If you find yourself texting the same thing—or close to it—to people fairly often, this feature can be a real time-saver. Templates can also help maintain consistency, especially if you have a virtual assistant or employee who communicates with prospects or customers. And if you’re running mass text campaigns, having a pre-written message structure makes sending those messages even easier.

Step 1: Access the Template Builder

To get started, go to the top of your screen and click on Marketing, then select Templates.

Once you’re on the Templates page, go to the top right and click the New Template button.

Step 2: Create the Template

  • Name Your Template: Give your template a clear and recognizable name.
  • Craft Your Message: Write your message from scratch in the provided text box.
  • Need Help? You can click on Ask Kellie—our built-in AI assistant—to help craft the perfect message. Just type in your request like you would in ChatGPT.

Step 3: Add an Image (Optional)

If you want to add an image to your template:

  • Look to the right side of the screen and click the image upload button.
  • Make sure the file size is under 1 MB.

Step 4: Save and Manage Your Template

Once your message and image are ready, click Save. That will bring you back to the main Templates screen.

Here’s what you can do next:

  • Favorite the Template: Click the heart icon in the Favorite column to mark it for easy access. It’ll turn red and move the template higher up on the list.
  • Edit a Template: Click the blue Edit button next to a template to make changes.
  • Deactivate a Template: Click the trash can icon if you want to make it inactive (don’t worry, it doesn’t delete it permanently).

And that’s it! You now know how to create and manage templates in Chatavise. I’ll see you in the next lesson.

In this lesson, we are going to do a walkthrough setting up a template. If you find yourself texting more or less the same thing to people fairly often, then this feature can be a real timesaver. And if you have a virtual assistant or an employee who engages with prospects or customers, utilizing templates can help make communication a bit more uniform. The third reason why templates are helpful has to do with sending mass text campaigns. If you find yourself following the same text message structure, creating a template can be really, really convenient.

So let’s create a template. To do that, let’s go to the top and click on Marketing, then click on Templates to start from scratch. Let’s go to the top right and click on the New Template button. Here you can name the template. In the next field, you can craft your message from scratch. You can also click on Ask Kelly, and our AI assistant will help you craft the perfect template. Simply prompt it like you would ChatGPT.

Now, if you want to add an image to your template, you simply look over to the right, click on this button, and you’ll be able to upload an image. Just make sure it’s less than 1 MB. After you’ve created the template, click Save. That will bring you to this screen here. And if you think you’re going to be using this template fairly often, you can click on the heart button in the Favorite column and turn it from gray to red, and that’ll make sure that it shows up higher up on the list.

If you need to edit an existing template, you simply click the blue button to the right of it. And if you want to make it inactive, you can click the trash can button to the right of that.

And that’s it! You now know how to create a template. I will see you in the next lesson.
