🔗 Chatavise Lesson: Managing Short Links in the Mobile App
In this lesson, we’ll walk through how to create, edit, and analyze short links using the Chatavise mobile app. Let’s get started!
📌 Prep: Grab a Link to Work With
Before we begin, take a moment to grab a link you’d like to use—maybe something from a keynote presentation, product page, or event registration.
💡 Reminder: In the Fast Start Web App course, we covered short links in greater depth. This mobile-focused lesson is perfect for on-the-go management.

to avoid saving issues.

- Customize the vanity slug (optional)
- Example:

- If the slug is already taken, add a number or variation.
- Example:
- Choose Visibility
- Decide if this is a global link (available to all locations/inboxes) or specific to one.
- Use the dropdown to choose the appropriate setting.
- Save the Link
Tap Save once all fields are complete.
✅ Your short link is now live and ready to use!
✏️ Editing a Short Link
- From the Short Links list, tap the Edit button next to the link you want to modify.
- On the edit screen, you can:
- Rename the short link
- Update the underlying URL (great if the destination changes)
- Access the QR code
- Switch the link between global and location-specific
- Make the link inactive (via the red trash can icon)
- Tap the trash icon again to restore it if needed
- Tap Update to save your changes.
🧠 Pro Tip: Editing the underlying link does not require changing the QR code—super handy for printed materials.
📊 Viewing Short Link Analytics
- Tap on the Analytics button at the bottom of the Short Link detail screen.
- Here you’ll see:
- Total clicks on the short link
- How many times it was sent via text
- Click rate and raw click numbers
- Tap Clicks (bottom-right) to dive deeper:
- See who clicked the link and when
- This detail is available because Chatavise creates unique links per contact when sending via text—far beyond what most URL shorteners provide.
📈 This enables powerful performance tracking and lead intelligence for every short link you send.
✅ Summary
You now know how to:
- Create short links
- Customize and manage their visibility and vanity slugs
- Edit links and even change where they point—without updating QR codes
- View detailed analytics, including who clicked and when
Short links are a powerful tool in your Chatavise toolkit. Use them to drive engagement, track performance, and simplify your messaging.
See you in the next lesson, where we’ll continue building your expertise in the Chatavise mobile app!
In this lesson, we’re going to walk through creating short links, editing them, and analyzing them—all in the mobile app. So let’s get started.
For this section of the lesson, take a second to find a link that you want to add to your Chatavise account so that you can follow along. On the screen, here are examples that we covered in the Fast Start Web App course, where we went much more in depth on short link knowledge.
Now let’s focus on my phone screen. I’m going to exit the Chatavise app, go to Google Slides, pull up my presentation for my keynote, and I’m going to copy this URL. Exit the Google Slides app, click on Chatavise, and now I’m going to go to the top left and click on the menu button. I’m going to scroll down to the Marketing section and click on Short Links. On this screen, I can add a short link by clicking on the blue plus sign button. Here I can name the short link. I’m going to call it Keynote Presentation Link.
Now in the Link field, I’m going to paste the URL, and I’m going to go all the way to the beginning part to make sure the HTTPS is there, because this could be one of the reasons why it doesn’t allow me to save it as a short link. So make sure all the links have HTTPS on it. The next part is optional, but Chatavise gives you the option to customize the base link with the vanity slug. So here I’m going to type in presentation-slides-3, and if I attempt to click save right now, Chatavise will let me know that that URL is already being used. So this is the second reason why it won’t save—that there’s a base link that has the exact same URL. When this happens, simply add another number in the back, like so, and when we click save here in a second, it should go through.
The next option that we have on this screen is to make this short link a global link. So if you have multiple locations and you want to save this short link, you can choose to save it for all the locations, all the inboxes, or you can choose to save it for a specific location by clicking the drop-down and choosing the location or inbox. Once you choose that, let’s click Save. As we can see, the short link was created.
To edit short links, simply click on the Edit button next to the short link that you want to work with. In the last section of this lesson, we created a short link called Keynote Presentation Link, so let’s click on that Edit button. On this screen, we can see the base link that we created. We have access to the QR code as well. We can rename the short link if we like. We can also change the underlying link for this short link so that way we don’t have to swap a QR code or change the base URL, even though we can change where it points to. That’s pretty awesome. We can also make this go from a global link to one that is specific to a location or an inbox. If you make any changes here, make sure to click the blue Update button. The last thing that you can do on this screen is make the short link inactive by pressing the red trash can button at the top. If you do this, simply click on it again to restore it.
To see analytics on your short link, let’s look at the bottom of the screen and click on Analytics. Here we can change the date range by clicking on the funnel button. We can also see how many times the base link was clicked on. We can see how many times the link was sent out via text message, as well as the click rate and the actual clicks themselves. If we want to get more detail, let’s go to the bottom right and click on Clicks. Here we can see who clicked on it and when. Now the way we do this is when we send out a short link via text message, we are able to create a unique link for each contact that that short link was sent to. This is how we get the level of detail that URL shorteners typically cannot give, because what they’re basically doing is what our base link does—just giving you top-level information, how many times something was clicked on or scanned, but not who and when.
You now know how to manage your short links in Chatavise’s mobile app. I’ll see you in the next lesson.
