🧠 Chatavise Lesson: Creating & Managing Keywords in the Mobile App

In this lesson, you’ll learn how to:

  • ✅ Create a keyword
  • ✅ Edit a keyword’s name
  • ✅ Generate and manage QR codes and links for that keyword
  • ✅ Use pro tips to maximize keyword engagement

Let’s get started!

✍️ Creating a Keyword

  1. Open the Chatavise mobile app
  2. Tap the menu icon (top-left)
  3. Scroll to the Marketing section and tap Keywords
  4. Tap the blue plus (+) button in the bottom-right
  5. In the Keyword field, type your keyword (e.g., LMS)
  6. Tap Save

🎉 That’s it! Your keyword is now live and ready to be used for subscriber opt-ins.

🛠 Editing a Keyword

  1. From the Keywords list, locate your keyword and tap the Edit button
  2. On the Edit screen:
    • You can rename the keyword
    • After making changes, tap Update

📲 Generating a QR Code & Link for a Keyword

  1. On the keyword’s Edit screen, tap the QR Code button at the bottom
  2. Tap the blue plus (+) icon to create a new QR code

Fill Out the Fields:

  • Label (e.g., Primary)
  • Base link (optional)
  • Inbox/Location (choose the one you want to assign this QR code to)
  • Keyword (select the keyword—e.g., LMS)
  1. Tap Save

You’ll now see the QR code created. Tap the QR Code icon to copy the URL for sharing or embedding.

💡 3 Pro Tips for Keyword QR Codes

1. 🔁 Online/Offline Mode

Some public Wi-Fi networks block access to web pages used in opt-in flows. If a new contact can’t open the link:

  • Tap Online to toggle it to Offline
  • You’ll now see two new QR codes:
    • One labeled iOS
    • One labeled Android
  • Show the appropriate QR code based on the user’s device to bypass browser requirements and firewall blocks.

2. 📌 Pin Favorite QR Codes for Fast Access

  • Exit back to the main menu
  • Scroll to QR Codes
  • Find your keyword’s QR code and tap the pin icon
  • It’s now marked as a Favorite

To quickly access it:

  • Open the app → Menu → QR Codes → Favorites

Just four taps to your most-used QR!

3. 🔗 Using the Keyword Link

  • Tap Copy Link under the keyword QR
  • Paste it anywhere (e.g., Notes, text, or Zoom chat)

When clicked:

  • It opens the user’s default texting app
  • Pre-fills the keyword in the message field
  • Once they tap Send, they’re opted in!

📲 Great for transitioning users from iMessage or inviting them via Zoom chat or event platforms.

✅ Summary

You now know how to:

  • Create and edit keywords
  • Generate QR codes and short links
  • Use firewall-safe opt-ins
  • Pin QR codes for quick access
  • Share links to convert contacts into subscribers from anywhere

With these tools and pro tips, you’re fully equipped to grow your audience—whether online or offline.

In this lesson, we’re going to walk through creating a keyword and editing it to change the name and generate the link and QR code for that keyword—all in the mobile app. So let’s get started.

To create a keyword, let’s click on the menu button, scroll down to the marketing section, and click on keywords. Here on this screen, let’s press on the blue plus button on the bottom right. On this screen, we can create the keyword that, if people text us, will get opted in and become a subscriber to our text number. I’m going to choose LMS, then press save. And just like that, you have now created the keyword.

To edit a keyword, simply find the keyword that you want to work with and click on the edit button. On this screen here, you can rename the keyword if you like. Then, if you make any changes, press update. At the bottom, let’s go ahead and click on the QR code button. Here, we’re going to generate a QR code and a link for this keyword by pressing on the blue plus sign. On this screen, we’re going to label this QR code. I’m going to call this one Primary. The next field is absolutely optional—you can create a base link if you like for this keyword. I’m going to choose to leave it blank. If you have multiple inboxes or locations, choose which inbox you want to assign this QR code to.

Next, we’re going to choose which keyword this QR code is going to be assigned to. We’re going to choose LMS for this example, then press save. Now we can see that the QR code was generated, and if we click on the QR code button, we can copy the URL as well like such. You now know how to edit a keyword and how to generate a QR code and a link for that keyword.

There are three pro tips to using the keyword’s QR code link. The first is the online/offline mode. This comes in handy in situations where the new contact who is wanting to scan your QR code is also using public Wi-Fi, and the firewall is blocking the new contact from opening up the web page that we need to opt them in. You know this is happening when you see something like this on their phone screen. Now, to avoid this and bypass that firewall, we can click on the Online button here. This will toggle it to Offline. What you will notice is there’s a QR code that got generated with the iOS label on it. If you swipe to the left, you’ll see a QR code with the Android label on it. Depending on the phone that the new contact is using, put the appropriate QR code in front of them. This will get them to become a subscriber without needing to open up a browser—hence bypassing the firewall.

The second pro tip has to do with the speed of accessing these QR codes. To demonstrate this, let’s exit out of the app completely, and let’s click on Chatavise. We’re going to click the menu button, scroll down, and instead of keywords, we’re going to click on QR codes. Here we can see the keyword that we created and the QR code for it like such, but we’re going to press on this pin button here to make it a favorite. Now when we exit out of it, we can go one click, two clicks, three clicks—and it’s there at the top. In four clicks, I can access the QR code I need to opt them in.

The third pro tip has to do with using the links part of the keyword. Here we can click on Copy Link, and I’m going to use my Notes app to demonstrate it. We can paste the URL here, and when someone clicks on it, it will open up their text app with the keyword in the field. Then they can press send, and that will turn them into a subscriber as well. There are certain situations where this comes in handy. For example, maybe I’m texting someone on my personal iMessage app because that’s what they had before I used Chatavise. I can make them a subscriber and move them over to my chat number. If they join Zoom on their phone, I can drop that URL in the Zoom chat, and I will also opt them in. There are other situations too, but those are two off the top of my head.

You now know how to create keywords in the mobile app, how to edit keywords in the mobile app, how to generate QR codes, links, and even how to use them. You even learned how to bypass the firewall so that nothing can stop you from gaining more subscribers. So I’ll see you in the next lesson.
