📣 Chatavise Lesson: Sending a Text Campaign & Reviewing Analytics in the Mobile App

In this lesson, we’ll walk through how to send a text campaign from your phone and how to review its performance using campaign analytics.

For an in-depth understanding of campaigns—including definitions, advanced strategies, and use cases—be sure to check out the Fast Start Web App Course.

📲 Sending a Campaign (Step-by-Step)

1. Navigate to Campaigns

  • Open the Chatavise mobile app
  • Scroll to the Marketing section
  • Tap on Campaigns
  • Tap the blue plus (+) button to start a new campaign

2. Step One: Choose Purpose & Type

  • Purpose of Campaign:
    • Promotional: Used for marketing/sales (e.g., book launch, special offer)
    • Transactional: Tied to a specific event (e.g., order updates, feedback)
    • đź’ˇ Tip: Use “Promotional” when messaging subscribers who opted in via a keyword or lead form.
  • Type of Campaign:
    • Traditional: Available on all plans
    • Dynamic: Advanced option available on higher-tier plans
    • đź’ˇ Tip: If you’re on the Solo plan, you’ll only see “Traditional.”

3. Step Two: Select Contacts

  • You’ll see a list of total available contacts (e.g., 716)
  • You can:
    • Tap Select All
    • Or filter for a more targeted list:

🧠 Filtering Tips:

  • Tap the funnel icon for filter options
  • Use Tags to segment contacts (e.g., “Ron’s Networking Relationships”)
  • Use Excluded Tags to filter out groups (e.g., “April Event Attendees”)

Example: After filtering, your contact list might shrink from 716 → 574 → 558 based on your criteria.

Tap Select All once satisfied, then Create Message.

4. Step Three: Craft the Message

You’ll now access the message editor where you can:

  • Use a template (saves time if you’re sending recurring campaign styles)
  • Use message variables (e.g., first name, trackable links)
  • Use Ask Kelly (Chatavise AI assistant to help write your message)

đź’¬ Example Message:

Hi #firstName, it’s Ron here.

Wanted to let you know that my book launch event is this Saturday. Use this link to RSVP for this exclusive event: #link-xxxxxxxx

🧠 Message variables personalize and track your texts. Don’t edit the variable format or it won’t work.

5. Step Four: Schedule Your Campaign

  • Choose the date and time to send your campaign
  • Example: Send on Saturday at 9:00 AM

6. Step Five: Confirm & Review Summary

  • Name your campaign (e.g., “LMS Example”)
  • Review the summary:
    • Purpose: Promotional
    • Type: Traditional
    • Recipients: 558
    • Credit Usage: Displayed below
    • Message preview available

🧪 Optional: Run a Test Campaign

  • Tap Test Campaign
  • Select yourself or other users in your account
  • A preview text will be sent to confirm formatting and links work
  • Check the link opens correctly and the message appears as expected

Once satisfied, tap Run Campaign
Then confirm submission—your campaign is now scheduled or sent!

📊 Reviewing Campaign Analytics

After your campaign has been sent:

1. Navigate to Campaigns

  • Go to Marketing > Campaigns
  • Scroll to a completed campaign (e.g., “New Year’s Campaign”)
  • Tap the Completed button
  • At the bottom, tap Analytics

2. Understanding the Analytics Page

Here’s what you’ll see:

  • Sent To: e.g., 524 recipients
  • Delivery Rate: e.g., 98%
  • Response Rate: e.g., 33%
  • Click Rate: Depends on whether a trackable link was included
  • Opt-Out Rate: e.g., 4% (anything under 4% is considered good)

3. View Individual Recipients

  • Tap the Recipients tab (bottom right)
  • View all recipients and their individual statuses
  • Tap the message icon next to a name to view their one-on-one message thread

đź’ˇ Why Use Text Campaigns?

  • No algorithm gatekeeping (unlike social media)
  • Direct access to your audience
  • 98% open rate, with 85% of opens occurring in the first 5 minutes
  • Highly trackable via variable links
  • No spam folder risk (unlike email)

âś… Summary

By now, you know how to:

  • Create a text campaign using filters, tags, and variables
  • Personalize your message with variables and templates
  • Test and schedule your campaigns
  • Review campaign performance using analytics

Campaigns give you powerful control over your messaging strategy—direct, personal, and scalable.

🚀 See you in the next lesson!

In this lesson, we’re covering how to send a text campaign in the mobile app. We’ll also review the analytics page after a text campaign is sent out. Now, for a more in-depth review of all things campaigns, including definitions and scenarios, check out the Fast Start web app course. Now, let’s get started.

Let’s start by scrolling down to the marketing section and clicking on campaigns. At the bottom of this screen, let’s press on the blue plus sign. Now, there are five steps to sending out a successful text campaign. The first step is to choose the purpose and the type. Clicking on the purpose of campaign, we can see there are two options: promotional and transactional. In the Fast Start web app course, we went into detail about the differences between these two. Here I’ll say promotional is for marketing and sales. Transactional is tied to a specific transaction—order updates, feedback requests. Promotional: they filled out a lead form, they text the keyword, they’re your subscribers. You have to work to build them up. I’m going to choose promotional. Under the type of campaign, there’s traditional and dynamic. If you are in the Solo plan, you will only see traditional. Again, in the Fast Start web app course, we went over the two differences. I’m going to click traditional. Now, let’s press the step two: select contacts. Here we see there’s 716 total contacts. Now I can select all and proceed. But if I want to target the audience a little bit more specifically, I’m going to hit clear, press on the funnel button, and here I can use the tags to be able to target my audience a little bit better. So I’m going to click on the tags. And for this example, I’m going to search for people that I’ve actually shaken their hand or have met or have had a one-on-one conversation with. So, Ron’s networking relationships. Then I’m going to hit apply filter. The list is now 574. I can also exclude people by tags. So, I’m going to click on this tags. And let’s say I want to exclude people that I met in the month of April. I went to this event, this event, this event, and this event. By hitting apply filter, my list is now 558. If this is good enough, I’m going to hit select all, create message, and then here I can access my templates. So, if I created a template beforehand or I’m sending out campaigns on a regular basis that have a similar structure to them, a template can save you some time. If I click on this template, for example, the message here will appear with my calendar. If I click on images, this template has an image attached to it. Now I’m going to remove the image and I’m going to delete this message so that we can start from scratch. And in the other button here, we can access the message variables. We can also use Ask Kelly to prompt the AI to help us craft the perfect text message. Now, for the sake of time, I’m going to keep this message simple. So, don’t use this as “I should send out those types of text messages.” So, I’m going to go “Hi” message variable -> contact -> #firstName.” That’s going to help personalize the text message because I am sending it out to more than 500 people. So, “Hi [their name], it’s Ron here.

Wanted to let you know that my book launch event is this Saturday. Use this link to RSVP for this exclusive

event.” All right. Message variable. And I’m going to use this Eventbrite link over here. And if I’m satisfied with the message, I can see how many credits I’ve used, and then I can click on schedule time. Now I can choose this date to be sent out. I said the event was Saturday, so I should probably be sending it out ASAP if it was a real event. I’m going to click here on the 17th, and I’m going to send it to them at 9 a.m. Then let’s hit confirmation.

And here we can name the campaign. So I’m going to name this campaign as LMS example. Now we can see a summary of that campaign. We can see the purpose is promotional, the type is traditional, there’s 558 recipients, and here we can see how many credits we are using. And we can view the message as well. Now, there’s another feature here that’s really come in handy and it came from user feedback. We have this test campaign feature, and if you click on it, you can access the different users in your account and send a text message to them so that they can see what it looks like. So, I’m going to choose myself here. And if you have more users, you can simply scroll down like so. Then hit start test. Now, it just sent a text message, and I just got it over here. And I can click this link to see where it goes. And it goes to an event. Right. Now, this is a past event from one of our clients.

There it goes. All right. I’m going to go back. If I’m satisfied with everything, I can press on run campaign and then there will be a confirmation screen for you to be sending it out. Just like that, you now know how to text thousands of people all from your phone.

In order to show some analytics, we will review a past campaign. To do this, let’s scroll down to the marketing section and click on campaigns. Then we’ll scroll down to this New Year’s one and press on the complete button. At the bottom, we can click on analytics. Here we can see this campaign was sent to 524 people. There was a 33% response rate and a 98% delivery rate. Now, the click rate was zero because there was no URL or at least a URL that was trackable included in that text campaign. There was no carrier filter and there was an opt-out rate of 4%. Anything less than 4% is pretty good when it comes to text campaigns. You can also click on recipients at the bottom right. And here you can see the specific recipients that were included in that text campaign. If you want to see a specific text message thread with that recipient, just click on the message icon to the right side of the specific text message thread that you want to go into. With that said, you now have seen the analytics to the text campaigns. Text campaigns are a powerful communication tool that gives you the ability to reach thousands upon thousands of people reliably. There is no algorithm acting like a gatekeeper to your subscribers, and there is no need to worry about ending up in a spam email inbox. Text campaigns have a 98% open rate, 85% of which gets opened in the first five minutes. So, making sure your text message was seen is no longer a concern with text campaigns. With that said, I’ll see you in the next lesson.
